1) It brought more corporate VCs from mid-level pharma than I normally would find at some other conference. 2) I thought the ability to download the meeting schedule into the smartphone worked well. 3) Getting a professional photographer to provide free photos.

It was a very good conference with solid speakers, all time sessions, good moderators, good content and a great networking opportunity. But the online platform was very cumbersome to navigate through and definitely needs more work to make it a bit more streamlined and straightforward.

I really enjoyed the event at the LSX World Congress. The one thing I would say is it felt like that it was, I, I don't know, almost 80 20 it seems, but it seemed very focused on health tech, digital health and bio versus the MedTech that I typically go for. So, I don't know if 80 20 is really a accurate assessment but it did seem like it was very heavy weighted against MedTech. Other than that, it was, well, it was well done. I enjoyed the sessions that I was allowed to be a part of.

What did you like best about the event?
1) It brought more corporate VCs from mid-level pharma than I normally would find at some other conference. 2) I thought the ability to download the meeting schedule into the smartphone worked well. 3) Getting a professional photographer to provide free photos.
What could the organizers do to improve the event?
1) More tables with chairs for participants to do work between meetings or talks as well as provide a space to sit and eat or drink coffee! 2) Locate the venue away from Hynes Convention Center which has poor parking options and a great deal of traffic to and from the event to the Seaport or Waltham. 3) Do a better job screening investors. I found too often that several companies that called themselves investors were really CROs trying to peddle their products. 4) Set a fixed time for lunch and breaks that do not overlap with any meetings so that people do not need to try to fit their food into a meeting. 5) Reduce the price for companies looking for funding since the whole point of the meeting is to raise cash.

While there were venture companies represented, I found that the top venture groups did not participate in any of the partnering sessions which says something about the whole point of this meeting. Additionally, many of the Pharma speakers had little knowledge and were not involved in corporate ventures.

Mixed feelings the 1X1 could be better
What did you like best about the event?
Panels with relevant pharma and venture capital representatives and meeting with pharma companies.
What could the organizers do to improve the event?
I sent meeting invitations to many VC delegates - 90% did not bother to answer, not even decline. The partnering system needs to have a consensus on does and don'ts.
